The Inaugural Mingara Gift is Coming to the Central Coast

There’s a new athletics event coming to the Central Coast in 2026, and Toowoon Bay Osteopathy & Dry Needling is proud to be supporting the inaugural Mingara Gift.

Taking place at the Mingara Regional Athletics Centre in Tumbi Umbi, the event will bring athletes and the local community together for a day of competitive racing.

As a local clinic with strong connections to sport, exercise and the Central Coast community, we’re excited to get behind the event from its very first year.

What is the Mingara Gift?

The Mingara Gift is a new athletics event being held on the Central Coast, featuring competitive running and traditional Gift-style racing.

Gift racing has a long history within Australian athletics and is perhaps best known through events such as the famous Stawell Gift.

One of the features of traditional Gift racing is the handicap system. Rather than every competitor starting from exactly the same position, athletes can be allocated different starting marks based on factors such as their performances and ability.

The result can be some incredibly close and exciting racing.

For athletes, families and anyone interested in running or local sport, it’s a great opportunity to experience competitive athletics here on the Central Coast.

Supporting Sport on the Central Coast

At Toowoon Bay Osteopathy & Dry Needling, we see plenty of people who enjoy being active.

That ranges from competitive athletes and runners through to weekend sportspeople, gym-goers and people simply trying to stay active and healthy.

We believe supporting local sporting events is an important part of being involved in our community.

That’s why we're pleased to be a sponsor of the first-ever Mingara Gift and to support an event encouraging athletics and participation in sport on the Central Coast.

Preparing for Race Day

For those competing in the Mingara Gift, the final weeks before an event are generally not the time to completely change your training.

Instead, focus on consistency.

Continue with the training program provided by your coach, prioritise recovery between sessions and avoid suddenly increasing your running volume or intensity.

If you develop pain or a persistent niggle that begins affecting your running, it may be worthwhile having it assessed rather than simply trying to push through it.

Depending on the individual, management may involve modifying training loads, addressing strength or mobility, rehabilitation exercises or other appropriate treatment.
